NORTH PALM SPRINGS, CA. TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 24,2020 - As one of the Desert Communities' oldest continuously operating philanthropic organizations, The Humane Society of The Coachella Valley – (HSoCV), (formerly The Humane Society of The Desert) announced three new Directors to the Board, including the election of incoming President Ms. Mary Fasano to comprise the latest iteration of the six-member board. Joining President Fasano (Director & President) are Mr. James Cannon (Director) along with Mr. Ralph B. Coomber, Jr. (Director) who joined the Board earlier in the year. The new Directors bring to the Board a broad range of business acumen, philanthropic service and accomplishments, and animal rights leadership. Their tenure will be effective immediately.

The 2020/2021 HSoCV Board’s mandate will be to continue navigating the organization’s successful future, especially during these challenging Covid-19 marked times. The entire board will be focused on ensuring that the no-kill sanctuary's ongoing fortunes be marked by stability, strong economic leadership and a consistency of high-level service for animals and pet adopters across the Coachella Valley.

In a joint announcement, the new board stated: “We are honored and humbled to help the HSoCV Board lead with the organization’s dedicated staff in continuing their mission to ‘help those who cannot help themselves.’  For sixty years, since its founding in 1961, this very special place has near magically served the Desert Communities, offering literally thousands of abandoned dogs, cats, horses, and other animals a second chance at life. During this most challenging period, we will work more tirelessly than ever to both protect and reach-out to via every means available to the generous, animal-loving residents of our Coachella Valley home and beyond. We thank President Hardee and Director Sandoval, who served before us and wish them the best.” Departing the Board are President, Ms. L. Kim McGuire-Hardee and Mr. Salvador Sandoval, (who resigned earlier).

The Board encourages all area residents to “please come and visit our wonderful HSoCV Animal Shelter facility.  What better way to enrich your home than by adopting a new four-legged companion to love for years to come?”
